Freezer Beef
CURRENTLY SOLD-OUT
OUR PRODUCT
King Kattle is a family owned operation in which we raise beef as naturally as possible, offering a product much different from the meat you traditionally purchase from a grocery store. Under no circumstance are any artificial growth promoting hormones added to our animals. This differs from the beef industry which traditionally implants animals with growth promoting hormones to decrease costs and maximize profits.
Beef from a grocery store can vary greatly. It may come from another country or from animals butchered at an age beyond prime marketing time. It may also come from multiple animals all fed and raised differently, thus creating a significant variation from cut to cut. We guarantee that our animals are butchered under 15 months of age. You will also be assured that all of the meat you receive will come from the same animal, providing you with a consistent product. The beef that you buy is either born on our farm or purchased from local producers that carry the same philosophy as ours. You will never need to wonder where your beef came from.
By purchasing freezer beef not only will you save in comparison to grocery store prices, you will gain a higher-quality, more consistent product.
ON AVERAGE, WHAT ARE THE PERCENTAGES OF CUTS AVAILABLE PER BEEF ANIMAL?
26% Steaks (T-bone, Rib Eye, Porterhouse, Flank)
16% Roasts (Sirloin Tip, Chuck, Arm)
7% Round Cuts (Top Round, Bottom Round, Eye Roast)
45% Hamburger (More if Fat, Less if Lean)
6% Miscellaneous (Short Ribs, Liver, Stew)
Refer to cut sheet for a more detailed breakdown.
HOW MUCH WILL THIS BEEF COST?
Beef is sold based on the carcass or hanging weight.
$2.75/lb + processing ($0.40)
Prices include all cuts (hamburgers, steaks, and roasts). The price average also includes live weight animal purchase, processing, aging, cutting and packaging.
HOW MUCH FREEZER SPACE WILL I NEED?
On average you will need 3.0 cu. ft. per 100 lbs of meat. So a 7.0 cu. ft. chest freezer will easily hold a quarter of beef.
WHERE IS MY BEEF PROCESSED AND PACKAGED, AND WHERE DO I PICK IT UP?
Just Meats in Chillicothe, Ohio. Delivery is available at extra charge.
HOW DO I ORDER MY BEEF?
E-mail at kingkattle@yahoo.com or call Bret or Grace at 740-703-0550. Include your name, address, phone number, and desired amount of beef (whole, half, quarter).
You will receive a cut order sheet in which you can decide how you want your beef processed. However, Just Meats will only process each half separately. If you order a 1/4 we will have to pair you with someone with similar preferences. A compromise may have to be reached. If you order a 1/2, you alone will determine how it is cut.
HOW DO I PAY?
Our customers are presented with two invoices. One invoice will be from King Kattle for the beef purchased on a carcass weight basis. The second invoice will be from Just Meats Processing Plant and will cover processing, aging, cutting, and packaging.
Example:
You decide to purchase a quarter beef.
Live weight is 275 lb (1/4 of a 1100 lb beef)
Carcass weight is 170.5 (live weight X 62%)
Invoice from King Kattle:
170.5bs X $2.75 = $468.88
Invoice from Just Meats:
170.5 X $0.40 = $68.20
** You will also be charged your portion of the $30 slaughter fee.
** Live weights, carcass weights and dressing percentages are averages and will vary for each animal.
** Prices subject to change without notice, based on fluctuating feed and fuel prices.
